| LA MASACRE DEL DESIERTO En tu geografía sin diques ni puentes, ya el progreso oscuro dejó su simiente. niños desnutridos, aguas malolientes, mares sin cardumen, trigales que mueren. Hoy se cumple un siglo en que un mequetrefe, con la espada ergida y sangre caliente, abrazó tu verde pastura reciente, y manchó con sangre de noble vertiente, tu bello paisaje sin nubes ni nieve... Luego inventó un gaucho, cruel , pendenciero, e hizo cruel escarnio, llamando conquista, a que un grupo espúreo, guerrero y avieso masacrara impune al "indio indefenso". Y donde antes sólo el viento reinaba, surgieron fortines, clarines, murallas y un horror de pólvora, abatió las lanzas. Y así ,murió el "indio", el sol la mañana... el aliento duro que el pampero daba, la paz del desierto que hasta ayer reinaba, y vistes al gringo ganar cien batallas, a "hordas salvajes",como las llamaban, sucumbiendo en sangre la historia nativa, en la cruel porfía que aún hoy lastima. |
